    Former Magistrate and President of the Colombian Council of State with extensive experience as a National and International Arbitrator at the Chambers of Commerce of Bogotá and Medellín. Served three terms as Dean of the Law School at Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana and he is a recognized columnist for El Colombiano newspaper.

    Strategic legal advisor to public and private sector companies, specializing in public procurement for landmark projects such as the Medellín Metro, Museo Botero Housing Complex, and the Aburrá–Oriente Tunnel Concession. Member of the drafting committee for Colombia’s new Code of Administrative Procedure and Administrative Litigation.

    Renowned Expert Witness in Colombian Law and Public Procurement in complex litigation and international arbitration cases. Experienced university professor and speaker at national and international legal conferences.

    Distinguished academic background includes a Law Degree and specialization in Administrative, Civil, Commercial, and Labor Law from Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana; Master’s degree in Political and Administrative Sciences, specialization in Comparative Constitutional Law, and Doctorate in Administrative Law from Université Catholique de Louvain; Diploma from the International Academy of Constitutional Law.

    Lawyer from Los Andes University with a Master’s degree in International Dispute Settlement from the Center of International Dispute Settlement (CIDS)  in Geneva, Switzerland. Proven expertise in international commercial arbitration, complex litigation, mining and energy law, intellectual property, data protection, and internet law.

    Former legal advisor at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and legal counsel for the Colombian Data Protection Authority. Experienced in representing clients in high-stakes disputes, including arbitrations exceeding USD 1.5 billion related to infrastructure, mining, energy, and commercial law, as well as international transfers of personal data.

    Skilled in negotiating international contracts across Latin America and international data transfer agreements. Fluent in Spanish and English with basic proficiency in French.

    Active member of the Internet and ICT Studies Group (GECTI) at Universidad de los Andes and published author on topics including data protection and international liability.

    Throughout his career, Alejandro has played a key role in cross-border transactions across various industries, representing multinational corporations, private equity, and venture capital funds. His expertise has been instrumental in deals valued at over $300 million USD.

    He has worked with high-profile clients such as Grupo Sura, Grupo Bancolombia, Ocean 14 Capital, Monashees, Softbank, and Citi Bank, demonstrating his ability to manage complex legal matters and his commitment to professional excellence.

    Before joining Álvarez Zuluaga Legal Consultants, Alejandro gained valuable experience working at international law firms including Reed Smith in New York, De Lorenzo Abogados in Madrid, and Brigard Urrutia in Colombia, contributing to the success and satisfaction of his clients.
